I have been writing a daily devotional
since 2000. This is the life that God allows me and I've tried to faithfully share what He so generously shares with me. Knowing God and knowing about God are two
very different perspectives. Grace Notes have
been as much a part of my coming to know God as they have been a revelation to others. They are blogged. Click on the link if you're interested.
Try to incorporate fresh fruits and veggies into your birds diet. Most birds love apples, carrots, baked sweet potato,
corn on the cob, collards, turnips or spinach.
Diet is so important to Parrots lasting health
Try to feed a healthy diet to your parrots, with lots of variety. Cooked whole grains like brown rice and whole grain pasta, mixed with beans and vegetables make a great meal.
Conference Teaching or just as a guest speaker. God has been so good to me, I am always willing to share all
that He shares with me. You can read my story
about how I came to this life with God
I also do educational bird demonstrations with live parrots.
Try wrapping your hand in a thick towel and allow the bird to step onto that. You feel more
confident so the bird responds better, if they do bite, they get no reaction and you can begin to reform that nippy behavior.
A Love Affair
I have had a love affair with animals all my life. But the parrots just seemed to really hit a sweet spot with me. I've owned them for 18 years, and I've been breeding and raising babies almost that long.
We've been through lots of things together. Its a miracle that my flock is even still with me, but God has been generous in indulging this particular passion of mine.
My other passion in life is my writing. I have been writing more or less regularly for nearly 10 years mostly recording this life that God allows. My writing often includes our interactions, so for those who have read me for years, you can finally put some faces to the stories you've read.
My writing takes the form of a daily devotional I've written for years called Grace Notes. You can check out the blog with them.
My other major component is my prayer journal, which is the interior life I share with God. I highly recommend that habit of writing
your prayers. I am also working on some stories based on Myrtle my basset hound. I hope to make a blog for her little observations
on life and a place for her to tell her stories.
After a lengthy hiatus, I was blessed with an abundance of babies through the fall of 2007. It was quite a season. I've given them their own page, so you can see how they developed through the early days of their lives. They are each an amazing tiny miracle in the making.
2008 and 2009 have been much calmer but there were a few more babies added to our group.
My pet birds are my family, and its often a crazy life. Please stop by and see their smiling faces and hopefully in the near future, hear their lovely voices. Coco talks non-stop and Jibber sings his own songs. They can drive me crazy but their joy is nearly always infectious.
The breeders at extended family, located in a building outside, they take up quite a bit of my time, energy and money. But they are beautiful and wonderful, each in their own right.
